Dear Dr. Stall,
We are an NGO working in the urban slums of Ranchi District in
Jharkhand, Bihar, India. As we are working in the field of Education,
Health and income generation activities at the grassroot level, we'd
like to expand in the field of care for the elderly too. We are also
interested in rehabilitating the elderly back to their families through
counseling sessions etc. Kindly help us.
Regards Sakina

Dear Sakina,
Questions similar to what I posed in my response to your e-mail about
the home for the elderly also apply to your "Grassroots Geriatrics"
effort, with special emphasis on functional ability, quality of life,
education, preventive health measures, and caregiver
training/assistance: 1) What are the demographics of the elderly people
and caregivers that you are trying to serve (for example, age, sex,
family structure, disabilities/diseases, caregiver responsibilities)? 2)
What specific needs of this population are you trying to address (for
example, having difficulty functioning and enjoying their daily life,
caregiver stress, problems accessing appropriate health care)? I hope
that helps.
Sincerely, Dr. Rob Stall
